Justice

« Glossary Index

The quality of being just involves virtue, being equitable, and moral authenticity.

To uphold the justice of a cause is to act with rightfulness or lawfulness, standing against “power over” in favor of the unpopular stand of supporting the poor, the weak, the downtrodden or disenfranchised.

Jesus Christ said ““Woe to you, teachers and church leaders, hypocrites!  For you give a tenth of your herbs and spices according to law, yet have neglected the more important matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith” (Matt 23:23).

It is one thing to teach justice, but each of us is responsible for acting with justice each day. This is particularly relevant for leaders, both political and religious, who should act with authenticity.
