The presence of soul/spirit in a human body (flesh=carnate)

This is common belief across all cultures.

Many people believe that the spirit of God (love) is present (incarnate) in all humanity.

However two religions go further, to say that the Supreme Being is a specific human.

Vaishnava Hinduism and Christianity both believe that God descended into the world as a person and lived among humans in order to save them. Vaishnava Hinduism ascribes ten incarnations (avatars) to the god Vishnu, while Christianity proclaims the sole incarnation of God the Son as Jesus Christ. In the Christian religion incarnation is the belief that the nature of God specifically came into the human form of Jesus, a Jew from Nazareth.
